In Calgary there is a Lily Beetle problem.
I am inspecting the lilies everyday because a neighbour found them on her lilies.
When I planted the lilies last fall, I also planted alliums in hopes that would confuse the beetles. I also shook talc baby powder over the bulbs and planting area. A good layer of bark mulch was also placed over the plantings. So far, so good, but I keep checking.
An entomologist at the Agriculture College is experimenting with a parasitic wasp to see if that will eradicate the pests.
