Team Gloves or Team Bare Hands?

By Trish

We've talked feet, let's talk hands. Do you protect and pamper, or tough it out barehanded?

I'm with team no gloves, I can't feel what I'm doing with gloves on. I do take a glove out with me when I work in the garden so that I have something to grab a thistle or nettle with, but odds are I'll just use the trowell to expose some roots and pick it up with those.

My hands are a mess of scratches and the dirt under my finger nails takes for ever to shift but my plants thrive because i can feel them and the soil they are in.

I uaually HATE wearing gloves! Except when picking up holly leaves...they hurt. and in areas where I've spotted scorpions...they hurt too. After playing in the dirt I put the hose on JET and jet under my nails which works rather well

I find washing my hair does the trick most of the time, provided I really give myself a scalp massage while I'm doing it. It also removes the bits of grass and seeds that have glued themselves to my head I swear my hair is a magnet for those bits of stuff Hilarious!

I agree with no gloves...except for the bayberry bushes.

I got'em (gloves), I hate'em, I should wear 'em, I don't. My nails would certainly thank me if I did...

No gloves unless there are thistles or thorns.

My hands are already becoming glove-like for the season!

I have gloves in my glovebox, behind the seat of my truck, (under the seat?) and even in my everyday tool bucket. Everyone has covered plants that do dictate their use but I'll add another: cactuses (or cacti if you prefer). I still get stuck though Whistling
