I see a lot of these germinating in my backyard, and have been assuming they are from a neighbor's tree. Anyone have any idea what it might be? (I am actually hoping for a mulberry...)

well, if it's a maple, then that's good to know--I love maples but don't have space for one in my yard. Now a mulberry on the other hand!! Big Grin

It looks like it could possibly be an Acer seedling to me too. I believe Red Maple (Acer rubrum) is a Maryland native but there may be other species that are native to the area as well. Do you know if there are Maple's in your neighbors yard or nearby vicinity?
