I tumbled a big milk snake out of my pile of rocks this morning...they're harmless but ooo boy scary. Poor guy was still asleep so he didn't do much but lay there and look at me. But when they are really cornered, they act like rattlers...they'll curl up and shake their tail tips (no noise, no rattle though). By that point, even if I KNOW it's a milk snake, I'm usually just a faint streak of colored dust heading for the house *LOL*.
