as you know by now, I'm new to growing Daylilies Hilarious!

I was wondering how often and how much you all are watering your DL's.
And do you add any fertilizer during the blooming season, or just in early spring and áfter blooming?

Thank You!

You cannot give Daylilies too much water!! A deep watering is always better than shallow ones, In other words, water for at least an hour when you water. if you want to see good bud formation and more re bloom, water well 3-4 times weekly. Some friends with top notch display gardens water everything daily for an hour, but that can get expensive. I am seeing great bloom and a lot of re bloom scapes, and it is directly correlated to the fact that I've been pouring thewater to them!!

I have also learned that the more you water, the better the plants will do. All the rain we have had this spring, is a shining example of that. I have never had so many big, healthy bloom scapes since I started gardening. A very famous grower said if he had to choose between water and fertilizer, it would be water hands down.
Happiness is doing for those who cannot do for themselves.

I water every day for an hour when it's really hot.

I think the most quoted amount of water for daylilies is at least an inch a week. Of course that is not going to be the case for everyone, I have some daylilies in much drier places than others. About the only time I water my bog bed daylilies is when I plant them and that is to flush the air pockets out of the soil around the roots more than to actually water the plants.

I water every second day with temps in the high 70's to low 80's, and water every day when it's near or above the 90's. Yes they love water. I use bonemeal, in march, june, and september and have never seen a problem reapplying every 3 months.
