I found beautiful flowers in the Southern Oregon coastal areas I can't identify. They were just flowers on stems and I found one with dead grass like foliage.

Maybe Brodiaea species, don't know which. Note the dying stringy foliage emerging from the base of the stem. Typical of this plant, the foliage dies back as the plant comes into bloom. A West Coast native.

It looked like chiondoxia the very early blooming spring flowers you can buy as bulbs(?). These were in bloom in dry grass along the Chetco River and along the trails up little bald hills in the Redwoods during late June.

I grow a cultivated version in my backyard, 'Queen Fabiola'. They reseed like crazy and now I make sure I pull every stem out before they go to seed.

Cool, I did manage to get some seeds and I was hoping they would adapt well to my garden.

Beware, once you have them they are hard to get rid of. I tried digging mine out and found that the are scads of little bulblets that you can't get them all. I started with 6 little bulbs that I purchased and look what I have now! And this is a couple of years after I thought I dug them all out!
