I purchased Luffa seeds 2 years ago and had good success. The seed packet labeled these seeds as Lagenaria siceraria. Although these can be harvested and eaten when small, I prefer to let them grow and harvest for scrubbers. The vine grows well in south Louisiana, I have it planted on my south facing fence where it gets full sun all day. My primary pollinators are bumblebees. Each gourd provides lots of seeds for next years planting.

Well done! I've grown Luffa before and it makes an awesome screen.

I've grown luffa for several years - the angled luffa gourd aka Chinese okra - which my family have grown for food. They are terrific vines and will cover whole trellis and fence.
