One of my neighbors collected old farm equipment, wagons, and other misc. rusty material...patina. He passed away a couple of years ago and now his family is yard selling his treasures. Over the past 50+years I have been involved at times in making arrangement/designs for the artistic classes in flower shows here in Utah. I have lots of lovely pottery but also like to try and create things and found the rusty materials appealing. The neighbors daughter gave me some things and I bought some others. I hope to use some of them in up coming shows. Here are pictures of some things I made in past years......

WOW! You are one incredibly talented creative person. I shouldn't be surprised after viewing your photographs. You know how to capture the moment and bring out the best characteristics in the flowers. Thanks for sharing.

I added a total of 920 iris pics to the database. I am glad I kept those photos over the years.

Just wanted to stop in and say that I really enjoyed your arrangements! Do you make all the containers (vases) yourself, or are some purchased? I really enjoy the wood look in the bottom photo. I really like the curve effect added to the two metal containers. I just wonder if they would look better if they were shorter. Iris are one of my favorite cut flowers; but those daylilies sure do look nice. To bad each bud only lasts a day.

I sell cut flower *bouquets* at a farmer's market, but seldom actually *arrange*; anyway, as with respect to my thinking for the two terms. I enjoy seeing everyone's bouquets and arrangements here, but there is not a lot of activity. I hate to deal with my camera at the farmer's market and seldom have time to take photos of the bouquets as I'm always in a rush it seems. However, I did purchase a Tablet for use at the market, so I just got done thinking I don't know why I didn't use it this year to take a few photos of my bouquets. Perhaps next year. Flower photos of all sorts are so nice during the cold months when one usually stays indoors!

I've just dipped my first little pinky toe into flower arranging. I will come and visit this forum to get inspired. @Paul2032 I can see you will be a great inspiration. I suddenly see all kinds of potential in stuff I have lying around! I'm very drawn to the Ikebana style, but don't feel confident yet to try anything in that style until I learn more.
I would be proud if you would occasionally 'critique' things I might be bold enough to post. Here is something I made this past week when I had to cut off that beautiful Monstera leaf from my plant growing in the yard.

Nice design Hetty. I've participated in standard flower shows off and on for fifty years. There used to be many more garden clubs and plant societies. Most of them are gone here now so opportunities have lessened. I like fabricating containers.......My main shows now are the iris society shows. There are 4 people who do the bulk of the designs and you might find it interesting to know that all 4 are men. You might enjoy googling the National Garden Clubs Inc. and order some of the "Visions of Beauty" calendars . Past years are cheap and I actually like the designs better. Many of the new things are to far out. It would be nice to have some activity on this forum.

Well done Hetty!

I'd like to see more activity on this forum too. Perhaps I'll add photos of wedding arrangements sometimes (I'm a wedding and event floral designer for a living).

When I first got into floral design in my youth I was really into Ikebana style. These days I've gotten more into very full, flower filled arrangements. A friend and lady I do gardening for enjoys having garden flowers for her vases and enjoys Ikebana designs. I often bring her left over centerpieces after a wedding and she makes multiple arrangements from one. We laugh that her style is simple and refined, mine is "so many flowers it is practically vulgar" LOL. The way I garden too!

Very nice Hetty! I like the way you echoed the lines of the container in the arrangement. Very cool container by the way!
