I love the way my Blue Dawn MG pops up here and there. It makes for some interesting color combos. I let it grow until it threatens to overtake whatever it's climbing on and then I pull it. Here it's climbing rose 'Gertrude Jekyll'...Thumb of 2011-05-28/wcgypsy/71383c

My Arabian Jasmine is not flowering! I'll have to see about taking better care of it, making it happier. Some roses that I'd had in the ground, in terrible soil are now in pots and doing much better....'Belle Story', however, had been in a half barrel and is now in the ground and doing much better..lol.. The last several years I'd created so much more than I could take care of, that I wasn't really able to give everything optimum care. Yesterday everything in pots and tubs got fertilized...finally....I could hear them sigh....

It's amazing how a little fertilizer perks them up! Especially in pots, the soil gets depleted eventually.

Looks like you had some rain? We had a whopping 0.01 inch. I think we got about two gallons in the rain barrels. They're just trash barrels that we place in the area where the water runs heaviest off the roof. We don't have gutters. DH wants to get gutters and I tell him that then we would lose all of that water that soaks into the ground. If we didn't have erosion during the 40-inch El Nino several years ago, we aren't going to get it now.

Kelli, you could collect the water from the gutters into barrels and use it for watering and it would still be going into the soil. For us that would mean the water going to the plants I want and not just weeds. But then again, to keep the water from the weeds I would need to have water collectors all over the yard, lol. We just had a worker here for several days pulling weeds and now have a mountain of them off to the side! What to do with them other than have to pay to go to them dump? I am loving the nakedness of the dirt right now.

I love this hollyhock. The pic doesn't catch it, but it has the slightest tint of green around the pink also...

Isn't it lovely? I have 4 colors of hollyhocks and I'm trying to not think about how many other colors there are and how I should grow them all.....sigh.

OK, who grows lisianthus and what should I know before I put it in a pot? It says full sun on the tag, but they don't know our summers here. It's cream and green and I got a nemesia called 'papaya' to plant at the base. I've finally come around to my husband's idea of buying pots of blooming stuff and hope they last for a while.

Now, why didn't I think of that? Hopefully I will remember to water them, since they'll be right outside the front door.

Of all things, we found penstemon Margarita BOP at Joe's Hardware and bought a couple more to brighten up the front yard.

BTW, I have a Mimulus (the pale yellow) that needs moving if you want it.

Thanks, I would, but probably not a good time to move it anyway.

I didn't check on DG, it's just that when looking up info on the lisianthus, that's where I landed...lol

Joe's sometimes gets some interesting plants. They certainly get all of the other business in town. Place is always packed. Jer doesn't like them because they're so much higher in price than Hank's and we're in Temecula every other day anyway. I think 'Joe' is 'Hank's' cousin or something like that....
