It's Alocasia gageana, Teresa. I won't know until another month or so if I have pups. These were all pups last spring, two small starts I got from Evan. They aren't 'pupping' yet. But keep in touch.

Fun article by a Hawaiian grower. Dryland Kalo Growing [Taro] In South Kona by George Kahumoku Jr.

A planting method I'm going to try.
All taro was planted at a slanted 45° angle in a Ku or Hina fashion. The ku style of planting slanted the huli 90° perpendicular toward the sun’s path across the sky. The hina style of planting taro placed the huli 90° away from the sun’s path across the sky. “Ku” was used for making big corms with little or no keikisi “Hina” was used for building up huli and making lots if keikis.
.

I believe the Huli is the planting material, probably a piece of tuber/corm including a growth point. The keiki's are offsets.

Yep, have one waiting to go, thought I would start it out in a smaller pot, think the small one is about 16" across.

Do all EE have about the same veining? I am wanting to try hypertufa and was wondering if some leaves work better than others.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! I am giving myself classes for my birthday.

Right, lots of them have fairly smooth leaves, and some like RJ's but Thailand Giant have thick prominent veins.

Big Philodendron leaves make nice "molds" too if that's what you're after. I thought hypertufa was for pots and such?
