I need help with these two entries in our database.

I've found a few web sites listing Hosta 'Reversed Patriot' (with or without the d at the end) that note Hosta 'Loyalist' as a synonym. However I see that Loyalist is listed in both the AHS Registry and the Hosta Library. Reversed Patriot is not.

Are these the same plant? Is 'Loyalist' the currently accepted name?

Here are links to a couple of the sales sites I mentioned.

I don't know the answer to your question but that isn't going to stop me from answering. The pictures of Reverse Patriot show a clean white center. Loyalist has a few "grass clippings" green flecks in the white. May be different.

I have never seen "grass clippings" in my 'Loyalist. BTW the plant in front is 'Patriot'

I've also never seen nor heard the term "reversed Patriot", but that's what 'Loyalist' is - a reversed sport from 'Patriot'. And 'Revolution' (which has lots of "grass clippings") is a sport of 'Loyalist'.

It's possible, I suppose, that someone else may have had 'Patriot' sport to a white centre and called it "reverse(d) Patriot.

Just an FYI, I ran across this article.
LOOK-ALIKES Of the four white-leaved, green-edged sports of H. ‘Patriot’, which is best? The Hosta Journal 31(I think).

Thank you. I had read that article and it's very interesting. But note that none of those have "grass clippings".
