Great link, Teresa Thumbs up I didn't know we could search for that!

Joy used to grow lots of hers in pots. Lots & lots of pots! Not sure if she still does.

I can't sing the praises of the true pink daylily Yesterday Memories enough. There are about 5-6 daylilies that form the heart of my small garden and it is number one. Winner of multiple awards, it has been rust resistant and cold hardy in my garden for many many years. No it doesn't "rebloom" but who cares. It starts blooming for me around early to mid June, and as of today (with 101 degree temperature btw) it is finally showing off it's last few blooms. Those daylilies that are touted as rebloomers seldom rebloom (if they do at all) much past the end of July or so and seldom put on the display Yesterday Memories has had for it's 6 weeks of bloom. It is also remarkably colorfast/sunfast when temperatures are well past the 90's mark. I initially got mine as a clump from Oakes Daylilies and am pleased to see them carrying it again this year. For mass effect in the landscape it's still top notch:.........Maryl

El Desperado has got to be one of the most photogenic daylilies out there. It's hard to take a bad picture of it.

Maryl, I grow Yesterdays Memories too. And I agree with you. Wonderful plant I wouldn't want to be without.

Becky, I grow a lot of Daylilies, but don't own all the photos I post to the database. Many of the photos I post are from online sellers who gave me permission to post them.

Claudia, Yes. I still grow most everything in containers. Something that has worked very well for me in my normally mild climate. The last few summers though, have been anything but mild. Thus, my new thinking of the need to downsize. We've had longer spells of hot weather than what used to be normal. I'm finding it much harder to keep everything watered. Besides my Daylilies, I grow many other plants, mostly in containers too. Too many to be able to get watered in one day.

Teresa, Another keeper I have is one I got from you a number of years ago. Royal Vestments. Truely love this one and wouldn't want to be without it. Smiling

I have a lot of oldies-but-goodies. My tastes aren't for the crazy toothed daylilies or the eyed patterns, I tend to like the deep and dark or big and bold solid colors or the simple ones with white midribs.

Here are a few:

"Red Challenge" (so named because I don't know what cultivar it is, but it's old and it looks like a shorter version of Autumn Red or Challenger)

Beautiful Edgings (1989 -- is that old enough to count?) I can't stop sticking my nose in this one and Jim's Pick--they smell so lovely in my garden! I don't normally go for pastels, but these two are keepers, and I LOVE the way Beautiful Edgings sparkles in just the right light.

American Revolution (1972)
[I didn't get a picture yet]

Becky Lynn
[I don't have a picture of this because I gave it to my mom for sentimental reasons, but this one has such a BEAUTIFUL fragrance!]

Malachi (1977)
[I don't have a picture of my own of this, just one my mom sent to me after I planted it in her garden. It really makes a statement.]

Pardon Me (1982 - is this old enough?)
Thumb of 2015-07-21/DogsNDaylilies/21ebee

Sound and Fury (1978) - bright and stunning!
Thumb of 2015-07-21/DogsNDaylilies/718cc6

Starman's Quest (1989) - this one has such a sweet scent most days (some days none) that I can't help but sniff over and over again. (I kept sticking my nose in an open bloom today, as a matter of fact, while trying to take this picture.)

Tom Wise (1980) - I didn't love this at first, but it has really grown on me!

Tuscawilla Tigress is also one of my top 10 core daylilies. A mass of bloom. It does fade a bit in the heat. That's not to say it bleaches out like some daylilies, but I have placed it where it will get PM shade after 3 o'clock or so in order to keep the color as vibrant as possible....... Beautiful Edgings is one I don't grow but one I've always admired. Seems to do well everywhere.... so many older daylilies to choose from that can keep pace or even out pace the new ones...........Maryl

I agree Maryl. My want list has more oldies on it than newer ones. The oldies are easier on the pocketbook to acquire, so when buying them I usually go for the oldies. I'm pretty cheap but have found some good deals on some more expensive cultivars in the past. I was lucky a few years ago when I bought Mary Reed Indeed (Another keeper) for only $12. I see it's still going for $40. I got an amazing deal. You can find the deals sometimes! The most I've ever paid for any daylily was $30. And that's a rare purchase for me. Most are under $10, with many being $5 or under. Hilarious!

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Fabulous array of cultivar photos and NOIDs too! I love looking at everyone's photos!

Y'all need to be adding them to the Plant File Databas if you haven't and include any info that might be useful. I use the Database all the time and all these photos would be excellent additions to each cultivar file. Thumbs up

Zada Mae- every bloom looks perfect, lots of scapes and buds, great branching.
Highland Pinched Fingers- Tall, large beacon. It glows.
Joan Derified- stunning saturated red with great watermark, it's 1st bloom last year is what lead to several purchases of red Daylilies this year, I just fell in love with that color.

Becky, I keep meaning to add some to the data base but I get distracted and off to other websites I guess. We would not have such a good database if everyone did like myself. Thank you to all that take the time to add your pics Hurray!

I'm jealous, LoL! I have been seriously considering Margo Reed, Indeed. I don't know what status it is on my 'want' list, but I've been meaning to bump it up if I haven't already.

If you're looking for oldies but goodies at really good prices, I highly recommend checking out Miss Becky's website. I'm almost certain she ships. I'm cheap, too, and I got most of my stuff from her. She has great prices, a great selection, I'm sure you'll find some that you'll love. Unfortunately, she doesn't have pictures for a lot of them, but if you go to the website knowing what you want or you keep a separate window up with the ATP database handy (which is what I do), you'll be golden. Yes. Thank you for the link. I ordered from Miss Becky when I first got into Daylilies. Still have the plants I got from her. The best time to get the best deals usually is late summer or in the fall. So keep your eyes out. Lol

I appreciate that link, too. There is one in particular I have been looking for, but I wanted to get it for cheap ... Miss Becky has it and of course I ordered a couple more for so cheap that I can't believe it. $3 for a double fan!!! About the only way that could be beat is getting them gifted to you. Must be my lucky week this week! I probably should play the lotto, too .... Hilarious! Hilarious! Thumbs up

I had already found Miss Becky and there is a list I would like have. I mentioned on another thread that I am starting a heritage daylily bed. I want to build a log cedar shed that looks like a log cabin and plant a heritage bed in the same area. I have already started collecting and I have really found some oldies that I purchased this spring. I found Apricot 1892 Yeld - the first registered daylily. I also bought Theron 1934 AB Stout - the first red daylily. While these may not be plants many people want, my bed will include daylilies registered before 1980. To me 1980 does not seem heritage but to my young family it is very old. I tell people the most antique thing around our place is me. I am taking note of the oldies but goodies to consider adding to my heritage bed.
