Anyone know if hydroponic led lights can be used indoors over houseplants in soil?

Well, thank you for the info, but i am not wanting to grow hydroponics, i have normal houseplants, but the only plant lights i can find, that are rectangular, are lights for hydroponic growing. I'm asking if they are safe to use in the house? Are they very hot? Dont need any extra heat here in TX.

Yes, I understood your question.
The links are for growing plants in regular soil using the hydroponic lights...LED are generally much cooler than incandescent lights.

I thank you too, Jean. My DH is going to build me a simple grow light system using those LED floodlight bulbs from the big box store, as I need to start seedlings indoors before the weather cools off, so they will be ready to plant in our school's garden in the fall. The article in your link shows exactly how to do it.
