I have 2 plants that I purchased last year and just noticed that they appear to be different plants. They were both marked wisteria, which is what I wanted, but they have decidely different leaves on them. One has a serrated edged leaf, the other smooth. They both appear to have the same growth patterns, but the one with the smooth edged leaves started climbing almost immediately upon the completion of the arbor/trellis. Here is a picture of the one with the jagged edged leaves, and now it appears to be forming buds of some type.

Can anyone tell me if they are both wisteria or not? Maybe different varieties? Maybe not even wisteria? Any help letting me know what I have would be great!

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of the blooms of the first plant pictured. I think that'll help tremendously.

Me too Dave! I'm thinking that should help me considerably. I'm leaning right now to thinking it's a trumpet vine, but never having one of those, I don't know much about them either Guess maybe I'll have wisteria and trumpet vine together? Wonder how they will look, if that's what they are. Can't imagine wisteria blooming this time of year, so really don't think it's wisteria. Hopefully the other one is tho.

Sandi: Your second photo does looks like Wisteria but the first one reminds me more of Campsis radicans ("Trumpet Vine"): I sure am curious so I hope you will post another photo when those buds open!

Leaves look like a trumpet vine to me also.
