Green Grin!
My neighbours has three Stella de Oro plants... Mine did not come to seed (I deadhead every morning and the only one seed pod I wanted to let grow aborted), hers are full of seed pods, many ripened and opened already. I took a look at the one plant near the fence, there was one open seed pod so I quickly grabbed it Angel Whistling
There were only two seeds and I just planted them in a small pot, to keep them inside (I have no control on what's happening outside). I thought they were dry enough, and started the experiment! I was just too impatient to start some seeds!

Glad to hear you just jumped right in there and started some seeds to try your hand at growing from seeds! I hope they germinate and do well for you. If they do germinate, you might want to put them near a sunny window to get enough light.

One of the members here on ATP actually got a few blooms on some of hers while they were inside for the Winter. Hers were not young seedlings but instead mature single/double fans that she had purchased before Winter. You might find this article interesting:

Thank you Becky.
I'm very doubtful on how to proceed.
Since the season is still early I could plant in the ground, outside. Butit's hot and dry, and I have some spider mites around.
Then we could have some strong rain after all this dry weather.
I'd like to grwo them inside, but I don't have much space, much direct light, and there are my five cats that can climb everywhere. Internal window sill are theirs. And I know how funny can be for a cat playing with soil and pots. I don't grow any inside plant or flower.
But I have to keep them inside! I have to think about arranging things because I have two other seed pods out there!

Sabrina - Since it is early in the season for you ... just plant them all together outside in a small area next to your house, that way it will be easier to water them. My attitude ... if they make it - terrific!, if not at least you tried. There will be more pods to come if these don't succeed in growing!

Not a bad idea but when winter will come what will I do? Also, the spot in the little piece of garden I have near the house has became a cat's toilet.... just not a place to put seeds in it!
My neighbours let their cats go freely around and one likes to poop in that corner. Sad

Do you have a sunny Winter area right next to the outside of your home? Or can you create a small garden area in such a place? The heat from your home should help them survive winter. You can also mulch over top of them in winter to try to protect them. They should leaf out and bloom starting in Spring and hopefully spread more and more each year to give you a lovely blooming daylily garden! Smiling Thumbs up

As I said before the past winters weren't cold and we didn't have any freeze, but lots of water. Besides the past summers were different, it rained a lot and it was too cold for summer. But now we're having this really hot and dry summer so I don't know what kind of winter I could expect. If next winter should be as the pasts I will put the seeds in the ground. But what happens if big rains should come? What about the big hot sun?

Here are a couple of pics of my small condo garden. It's not really near the house. The big center is fake grass. My husband made it like that before I came living here, because there's no way to have water there (it's the front of the house) and he's not a really green thumb.
I would like to talk to him about taking out a portion of the fake grass but I'm not sure because I know he paid a lot for it.
In the small pieces of free ground I have 23 DLs and I'm already thinking where to put the next seeds I'll harvest!
The bug of DLs hit me not so long ago and I didn't have the time to plan my litte garden!

It seems I took a decision.
I placed the small box outside. It's not covered, I planted the two seed two days ago, @beckygardener I did as you wrote in you article, watered well with water and peroxide; the soil is still wet.
Should I cover the box?
It will get sun from early afternoon until 5 PM.
Should I let the soil dry or do I have to mantain humidity? I have something I could use as a cover for that box.
I thought of putting the seeds in the ground but in one spot there is concrete under the soil so if the roots should grow they won't have a good amount of space; the other spot is where the cat goes to poo Thumbs down
So maybe I can let them sprout there, and if something should grow I will have to think where to put the seedlings. I have 6 big pots. But I keep on thinking about winter and can't decide.

Sabrina - That fake grass sure looks green! Whistling Hilarious! Too bad it was an expensive investment otherwise I'd say get rid of it and use that area for a garden. The yard layout of your condo is very nice with the stone walkway. And I can see where you are trying to squeeze in your daylilies. Garden space is very limited, so not sure where exactly you could grow those seedlings. Maybe plant the seeds in one of those pots on the walkway? You could grow them there and add other plants once the seedlings get bigger. If you get another mild winter, they should do fine in a pot. Otherwise, gift the seeds to someone else who have room to grow them.

Interesting to hear about your summer and winter odd weather change, too!

We posted at the same time. You need to keep the humidity level up for the seeds to germinate, so having them in full sun will likely dry them out. Do you have a semi-shady or shady spot you can put the container. You don't need bright sun to germinate them. Using hydrogen peroxide will definitely help prevent seedling rot. Thumbs up Did you put some holes in the bottom of the container to allow water to drain out?

Green Grin!
Sorry for all these posts but I feel nervous! Than you for your kindness!
Ok, so the plastic container (yes, it has holes in the bottom) is back inside.
I'm thinking about removing sedum (in the first pic of my garden is on the right of stella de oro) and using that portion for DLs. Sedum can grow anywhere so another spot will be fine for it.
I didn't plan to have so many DLs at once, but two years ago when I decided to buy them the nursery didn't answer back and didn't send any, so I ordered from another nursery, and by the time I had planted my new DLs the ones from the first nursery arrived. Free, also, with the owner's apologizes for delay and for not getting back at my emails. And of course in both orders there were free gifts.. so here's why my garden is so crowded!

Sabrina - Wow! You got one order FREE! Now that is a very good way to make a bad order situation right! I don't think I've ever had a company/nursery do that for me even when I had a very good cause to complain. I understand your dilemma. Well, you are not alone .... my eyes are bigger than not only my yard but my financial funds. Which is why in some areas of my garden I have gone vertical. Whistling

Yes that man has been so generous, I couldn't believe it, I offered him to send the box back but he didn't want.
Vertical garden sounds interesting! Can I see something?

You can see my vertical herb garden in the article I wrote. One of my most favorite things that my husband and I ever built for the backyard garden area:

Thank you.

Yes, too small for daylilies, but may not be too small to move other yard plants to? Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

It's sure a clever solution, now I wish I saw this garden before the fake grass Shrug!
The sedum will go and I'll have another spot for daylilies. But before I want to make them germinate inside. No shadow here sun in the morning is on one side of the house and from noon is above the little garden with no shades.

It's 10 days and no signs of germination.. I know I have to have patience, and maybe that I will get no germination at all (two seeds only), but is there a way to know how's going down there? They're in a plastic container with holes in the bottom , I watered on saturday with water and peroxide.. Wish I had x-ray eyes!!!

I planted a few seeds just to see what would happen a couple of weeks ago, but don't be surprised if your seeds don't actually sprout till spring. Mine have done nothing yet either.
