We came across this amazing field of blooms. There was a wonderful scent that came from these plants.
Hope some one can ID this for me.

maybe one of the lavenders. there is one that starts with a "p" that has similar leaves

The blooms are don't match either lavendula or Gilia.

Thank you Jay. That is definitely a perfect match. Hurray!
It looks like it is used as a cover crop here in the Willamette Valley, OR. Also a wonderful source of nectar for bees.
I kept thinking something about the plant looked familiar, but the blooms confused me. It looks a lot like one of the tansy plants we have growing wild here.

Thanks for posting this. I've heard tansy all my life but didn't know they were so pretty and fragrant. I've even passed the seed at wildseed farms Thank You! and glad you found out

Tanacetum and Phacelia are two different plants. But the Phacelia foliage does make me think of some of the tansy type plants.
