There's one called "Giant Lilyturf" that gets 2-3' tall. The variegated variety do look very similar to Chlorophytum comosum ("Spider Plants") I have a more dwarf variety, mine is maybe a foot tall.

Maybe it is a spider plant ? I have seen them used in garden plantings many times.
The flower on a lily turf plant is a straight spike out of the center of the plant like a mini yucca
Thank you both, I am leaning toward the spider lily, it is different from the one we use to have but that could be because it is growing in the ground.
The Spider Lily is the Hymenocallis I posted a link to above ... I'm still leaning towards Ophiopogon. I will go out and take a close up photo of some I have growing in a mixed container planting for comparison ... be back shortly.

they did have those flowers, and the leaves where bigger and more upright. There where some tiny white flowers smaller than I remember for the spider plant.
