bluegrassmom,
When I click on the plantstep link at the bottom of your posts I get the message "sorry no flower garden found" should it be a link to your catalog? http://www.plantstep.com/Flowe......

Hi, Larry
Yes it is and I cannot figure out how to take it down from ATPs. I have it offline due to updating it. Can anyone tell me where I need to go to disable it?
Have you tried just going to your public profile page, then down to the signature line (I think where you entered it) and just highlighted it and deleting it?
Here is a link that shows a proliferation, gives a little info and some photos, shows what it looks like when it is cut off the scape. For those who have never seen a prolif or grown them out. http://www.daylilymeadows.com/...
Here is an AHS link about proliferations. I was looking for what causes them, and how to promote them, but it appears nobody knows. I was also wondering if they only occur on mature or older plants, anyone ever have them on a plant younger than three years? http://www.daylilies.org/ahs_d...
I've actually gotten prolifs on small seedlings the second year. It always amazes me that such a young seedling will produce such nice blooms, another fan, and prolifs! I always try to take note of which plants do that, as I deem that very good qualities in a seedling.

Larry - Good links! Thanks for posting those for folks here who don't know very much about prolifs.

These prolifs were on seedlings that were planted last September.
This is how I deal with prolifs and have a good survival rate.
This is the reason I kept the prolifs
HB06-16 Both will be moved to the hybridizing area this fall

Fred - I do the prolifs the same way and I didn't think about it, but I also move them to my shadier cuttings to rooting area. Excellent demonstration of how to do it! Thanks for taking the time to photo graph and explain it for those who don't know. (You should write a short article for ATP on how to do that!)
AND ... I can certainly see why!!! Your babies are going to be producing some very, very nice blooms! I am impressed with those patterned blooms, Fred! Beautiful!!!

I did not have as many prolifs this year as in the past. But I did have one on my favorite daylily, Fighting Fire. It's potted and growing roots under my carport now.
I have 3 proliferations on a spider fingers seedling, the sibs of the same cross have proliferations also. I will grow them when the seed pod is harvested.

I noticed yesterday that Frans Hals is covered in prolifs! I hardly ever get prolifs, but this year seems to be better for some reason. I've got a few others, but didn't look to see which plant they were on because I was busy trying to chase a bunny out of the garden. I'll take a better look later!
