One of my customers had this plant. About 7-8 feet tall last fall. Seems it had purplish berries. I'm in Washington state. This plant is apparently perrennial in zone 8. The customers don't know what it is but they dug up a part of it for me and it is now 4 feet tall and growing daily. I've seen a zillion different plants and usually pretty good about identifying. This has me stumped.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

You guys are awesome!! Thanks so much. Its a really pretty plant and I've never seen it before. I will inform the people I got it from about it being poisonous. Karen

Like any plant that makes seeds, there can be seedlings. They are very easy to pull, comparatively. If you have an interest and a suitable spot, it's an interesting addition to the landscape.

YW. A native can't invade its' own territory... But can be too vigorous, exuberant, aggressive, tall, seedy, whatever, for some gardeners to be able to accommodate/appreciate.

I call these types of natives "lively". I've also heard "enthusiastic growers". They are my type of plants. I had one poke weed here and it didn't survive it's location. Wish I had some. I heard the birds like them.
i have it in my yard . i just let it be. its never been overly aggressive for me. i grew up eating (poke salet) as my grandma called it. we only ate the young tende leaves in sping never in the summer. having said that i would never recommend it to anyone not familar with its preparation.

I so appreciate all the info. It really is a pretty plant. Mine is in a 5 gallon pot. Every time I went to this customer's house I commented and asked if they found out what it was. Last summer there was a big patch. This year there is only one small plant there. Mine that they dug up for me is actually a lot bigger than theirs is now. The blooms and those little green buttons are so pretty. Karen
