I have about five of these plants, and these 2 have flowered. the stems just shot up and then I have read that after
they flower the plant dies? is that true. They attract a lot of hummingbirds and june bugs...

Yes, Tom, the Agave will die after it blooms. It is monocarpic.
However, the stalk will produce plantlets after it finishes blooming, you could get hundreds of new little plants from it.
