Melissa, you are doing a good job with those Vandas! It should get easier now, since you can just hose them down once, or twice daily in very hot weather? Pretty bloom on the Patricia Low!
I'm getting braver with the Vandas. I ordered a few more and they came in today. Then I saw photos of mature plants...uh oh...I may have to build a much taller greenhouse. LOL.
Jim, can you look in OrchidWiz for V. Chindavat? Motes lists the parents as V. Kultana Gold x V. Seeprai, but RHS has no registration record. Do you find the same information?
hawkarica said:Melissa, OrchidWiz says: V. Chindavat (V. Lenavat x V. Sunray) and gives the year as 1978.

Yeah. Emailed RHS and their webmaster said the site was down last night. That is what I got today. It looks like the tag has a mistake. It shows V. Chindavat (V. Kultana Gold x V. Seeprai). That is registered as V. Motes Butterscotch. So I either have V. Chindavat or V. Motes Butterscotch.
I'm going to email Motes to ask them to check and let me know. Thanks for your help!
Finally a few days without rain! I even went outside this morning and fertilized all the orchids that I moved onto the porch back on the 26th of July...they haven't had a drop of water since that day!
And a few blooms, some old, some new:
The Stan. is ready to open any day now (it's the second inflo.)

I don't know if I've seen this one (another NOID) bloom before:
Nice show, Patty. I can't wait for the Stanhopea to open. I've been looking through my Miltassia photos looking for one that matches your NOID and ran across this Miltassia Golden Spider 'Copius'. What do you think?

The NOID Den. is a bit similar to my NOID. One difference is that the sepals on mine are mostly white and the petals are lavender (if that's the right color name).

The reason it's so hard to lose weight when you get up in age is because your body and your fat have become good friends.
My Mom's Vandas are beautiful and she swears she doesn't have time to water them everyday and they are in full sun. I think the difference is, they are all attached to her "dracaena fragrance" (or corn plants) and the roots are all over the plants.

Well, it's nice that we had a little drying time anyway. Will tell Marsh to turn off the irrigation again I guess. Like most non-gardeners he is oblivious to the weather unless he's out sailing.
