It's a problem we face too often, Phillip.

My choices are made:

Afternoon in Rio
Carnival Ride
Fangnificent
Gypsy Romance
Montmartre
Owyhee Desert
Secret Rites
Social Graces
Vienna Waltz

Thank you all for helping with your thoughts and experiences. I really do appreciate it.

Afternoon in Rio is one of my favorites if not my favorite in my garden, the color is just fantastic! I panicked when a gopher hit it early this year but it's recovering.
I also have Gypsy Romance, beautiful rich coloring and Secret Rites is also quite beautiful. Thumbs up

Thanks for the input. I love all the colors and will have our guy, Greg, dig one spirea and two Callicarpa to make room for them so they can have their own space and I'll know exactly where all the Schreiner's irises are.

Thanks. I thought obsessing over dahlias was time consuming but selecting the irises was very time consuming. I didn't mind sitting in the cool of the AC instead of sweating and working outside.

Schreiner's opens for business at 11AM (my time), and I was on the phone and ordered them. The lady said that they were all shown as being in stock - whew! My bonus should be Absolute Treasure.

Thumb of 2015-08-10/pirl/9ff99e

I did give one possible replacement for anything they may run out of, Pagan Dance.

They will be arriving at the end of August.

As long as I get what I ordered I won't be concerned about whether or not they really do send me Absolute Treasure, though I do love it and the person on the phone said, "I'll try", so I guess the decision is made by someone in charge.

Thanks for all your help, Leslie. Every time I see Owyhee I'll think of you!

I hope so, too!

The squirrels will be my main problem, as they always are when I dig up the good earth to plant in fall. I'll put down deer mesh anchored with stones and bricks to get them through winter until spring arrives.

Someone told me to put garlic in the garden to keep the squirrels from digging. I had noticed they wouldn't dig near the bulgaricum you sent me so I cut up some cloves of regular garlic and sprinkled them near where they had been digging up my iris roots. Surprised to find they quit digging! Worth a try and easier than deer mesh I would think.
