Gerry - Congrats on your first bloom of Somewhat Awesom X God Save The Queen! Quite a pretty bloom. You are right, the fan is a nice size, too! (Not puny like some of mine are.)

During my garden walk about today, I spotted a seed pod that escaped my pinching fingers. I will leave it and try a few seeds once it is ripe. It is on Minted Halo, so it could produce something interesting, although it will not be a controlled cross, it will just be the bees doing their thing. Hilarious!

I agree, and I don't even really like eyed cultivars much, but that one is nice!

A seedling from last year (Forestlake Becky X Silver Bullets). I like the clear light orange color with pie crust edge, but it just doesn't open very well...and takes all day to do it. Bummer because it has 4 way branching on a very strong scape with lots of buds.
Thumb of 2015-08-09/bramedog/4d1852

I did use some pollen from my Root Canal seedling on it to see what I may get.
Root Canal seedling color doesn't bleed in the rain. Hurray!

I have several more sdlgs. to show. Both are babies.....only 1 yr. old sdlgs. That's really like a miracle for me to get a sdlg. to bloom in 1 yr. These are really small sdlgs. that need more time in the sdlg. bed, but there is hope here for both these youngsters.

'Fl. Ragamuffin' X 'Dental Academy' - 20" scape. 5" bloom, 6 buds.....it's a baby folks. FFOE - Hopefully I will get some teeth on this baby.

Thumb of 2015-08-10/ARoseblush/3166b2

'Blue Royale' X 'Ravenous Bite'- The little sdlg. is so small, only about a 12" scape, I can't fathom how it pushed out 3 buds. The colors are very rich tho, and although the white edge that surrounds the flower looks ragged, it gives me a good indication what future flowers will look like next year and beyond. FFOE

Thumb of 2015-08-10/ARoseblush/d96577

An update on 'Lighter Than Air' X 'Four Eyes' - Never in a zillion years did I think I would get a pale yellow color on this sdlg., but I did. Just goes to show you, ' always antiscipate, the unantiscipated'.

Ken - Beautiful blooms on those seedlings! Interesting how much your unknown parentage one looks now compared to the soft pink almost flat faced bloom it had last year!

I have a few starting to pop up out of the soil now. Maybe, just maybe there will be a few blooms next year? I hope, I hope, I hope... Rolling on the floor laughing

Great seedlings everyone, several folks here I haven't seen before, WELCOME. Have been busy planting seed and building beds. I planted 2200 seed over the last month and the first batch is ready to go in the ground.

I agree, there have been so many gorgeous seedlings posted this year in the various monthly seedling threads. I'm amazed at some of the toothy ones being shown. Way back when rumor had it that you needed heat/hot summers to get teeth I skipped growing them. Our summers tend to be cool with a few warmer days mixed in. I haven't posted many seedlings this year, still need to sort the seedling images, but this one had me gasping for a minute or two. I don't purposely breed for "blue" and this was a surprise.
Thumb of 2015-08-13/Char/07b52c

After staring at it for a few minutes I thought about getting a known dl to compare it with. So ran down to the display garden and grabbed a bloom off Point of Divergence.
Thumb of 2015-08-13/Char/9938fd

The comparison looks pretty good, still showing the blue....then my bubble got burst...the sun moved higher in the sky taking the shade off the blue eyed sdlg. You can see the difference adding sunlight makes to the color of the blooms, gone is the clear cool blue and in come warmer purple-red tones to the eyes on both the sdlg and Point of Divergence as well as changing the base colors.
Thumb of 2015-08-14/Char/f57f78

Maybe the sdlg will grow well in the shade.... Whistling

Registered it as a shade plant. Green Grin!
I think it's time to start hybridizing for blue with that flower!

Char.....I would definitely keep that sdlg. in the shade bed. Love the blue eye, and pinkish cast. I would try and cross that one with one of your white or pale pink blooms. That shade of blue is hard to come by. Very, very nice. Yummy. Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up

This is the 3rd and final bloom on that little 1 yr. old sdlg. I posted the other day...until next year.
The darker purple eye on the petals with lighter lavender sepals is a knockout. The double purple/white edge is falling nicely into place around the bloom.

Alex, your seedlings are very nice. Thumbs up

Can you guys tell me if it depletes the energy out of the plant if you let it set too many seeds/ pods? Or is there a "limit" as to how many can be set on one plant without setting it back?

Tracey - I think it does set them back a little (maybe more on some than others). I set a LOT of pods this season and some of my one fan seedlings are still sulking.... Sad

I went a little pollen crazy. Lucky for me that some days were too hot to set seed. I know in lilium too much energy in pod development can set them back. It makes sense, just wasn't sure if daylilies responded in a similar way. Thank you for the insight. Sorry to take away from the seedling thread.
