So, I did it. Out of curiosity I bought one of those "Flower Rockets". You know, the seeds are all in a roll of fiber and you just plant the whole thing and water. This cutie bloomed the other day. The stem is thin and long and hangs over the basket and the flower is just a little over an inch.

I've never seen one, LOL. The leaves are like a coreopsis but the flower resembles a columbine!

Looks like larkspur, but... I'm surprised at the bloom time.... I'm used to an early spring bloom... But maybe your summers are cooler than mine....
What's the location, Shell?

Normally larkspur give up in the heat here in late summer but perhaps the wet, cool spring and semi-shaded location have had my pink ones blooming all summer. These were started from seed back in late winter. Perhaps they're still blooming because I collect ripe seed continuously.

I'm just off the coast in Southern New Jersey. I actually didn't even plant the flower rocket until late Spring. (It was on sale at Big Lots, LOL)

Sure looks just like Consolida ajacis to me too. Smiling I saw your picture and recognized it right away.

Since you didn't plant the seed rocket until late spring, that would make since that its just now blooming, I think.
