I think the first one is likely in the chestnut family. The others look like beech, but being in zone 5, I could be wrong about all of them.

Thank you for your kindness in taking the time to respond. BTW, Kathleen, I'd love to see a chestnut tree as I've never seen one in reality since the blight has wiped out most.

Here, we're talking horse chestnut. We had an American chestnut for a time, but it has since died. There are several groups that have developed American chestnut hybrids that appear to be blight resistant. There may be a comeback.

Kathleen, the friend with whom I live said when he was a child, chestnuts were everywhere. Maybe like the ivory-billed woodpecker, I'll eventually see an American chestnut. Lee

The first one looks like Virginia creeper. The other pictures look like hickory. Were there nuts on the ground under the tree?

Kevin , might I suggest a photo of the trunk of the tree also , it would be helpful in trying to identify what you have .
The first 5 leaf tree looks like a nut tree but there are so many
not quite a horse chestnut or buckeye, I have those growing here, but a close relative.

Thanks Cinda and All, Good idea you have of taking a pic. of the trunk. I have to be careful of how many pics I post at
one time as I've been warned by ADM to post only one at a time. Will try to do as you suggested before the temp.
gets to 100 as predicted. Lee

I think they mean you should post only one ID at a time , just make a new thread for each different plant you want to have identified. You can post more than one photo of the same plant
Example : Leaf , berries , flower, trunk.
Just make a new thread for each new plant , less confusing on what photo we are all talking about Smiling

Good luck and keep cool.
