I'm looking to purchase "Lynchburg Mustang" from someone and I'm trying to figure out the story behind "Lynchburg". (And were they naming it "Mustang" after the car or the creature?)

I'm assuming Lynchburg relates to the city (or nearest city) that the hybridizer is from, but I can't find any information on the hybridizer at all, 'Lynchburg Mustang' is their only registration so I don't have other cultivars to cross-reference and use to try and track down the hybridizer's website, if there is one. Maybe s/he is a small-time hybridizer like some of us? If anyone knows anything about this DL, why it's named, or the hybridizer's name, please let me know!

Hybridizer Meyer-M is listed as Michele Meyer, Gemini Garden in Lynchburg, Ohio. The image in the ATP database is noted as taken in the Osman Garden. The date of 7/12 (and the sign in the background) would place this as possibly being seen during or near the time of the 2012 AHS National. Michele's daughters were very involved with athletics in school. I would think the name relates to their school.

Michele is a very busy mom and and a new grandma of a beautiful grandson! There were life circumstances that took her in a different direction for now.

@DogsNDaylilies I got in touch with Michele today. Bill Maryott was the only vendor to sell Lynchburg Mustang. I did not check to see if he still has it. Michele does not even have it anymore. So possibly somebody who purchased it may still have it.

It was named for the school and its mascot. The school colors were black & gold.

I am hoping that Michele may decide to pop in herself! It would be great to see her join again...... if she has time!

And I, too, hope Michele will join again. It sounds like she's a very likable person and that she has a warm gathering of friends here...it's always a little sad when a friend has to slip out of the picture for whatever reason life throws at them.

No problem at all! It is a really pretty daylily and I have "known" Michele for awhile but honestly did not remember her having registered a daylily. So glad you came across it and asked about it!

Hmmmm. Wonder if it is one of my seedlings. I gave Michelle tons of seeds to grow for me because of lack of room and that was the last I heard from her. She was supposed to grow them and evaluate them and we would decide together on whether we would register any or not.
