Daylilies that have done well here in USDA Zone 9 and which I particularly like are:

Paper Butterfly
Fol de rol
Siloam Double Classic (hoping as a dormant that it does well here as this is a new addition to my garden)
Lavender Stardust (another registered as a dormant, so jury is out on how this does after it settles in!)

I have more, but all have been recently acquired, so will wait for a year to determine how they perform.

I'm not exactly sure if I'm in zone 9...

Are the zones about the average minimum temperature or the lowest minimum?
Our winters are quite mild, but every couple of years we have a 'real' winter and than temps can drop below freezing.
My garden is small, so I'm planning to keep big sheets of garden cloth in the garage for the winter, just in case

Last year I bought White Temptation and Spotted Fever.
Both are in the databse as semi-evergreen, but WT disappeared completely and SF did not.
The result of that (I guess) was that SF was in bloom on the 28th of June and WT's first flower was on 14th July..
although both are in the database as midseason.
SF's first couple of flowers were single, probably because the temps were still in the lower 60's...

I started SF last year with 6 fans, I had 6 scapes this year and there are now 16 fans
WT started with 4 fans last year, 4 scapes this summer. I'm not sure how many fans there are now, I will look tomorrow

Both cultivars had/have the flowers higher than the foliage, which I like
I haven't checked scape heights, will do that tomorrow as well
SF stopped blooming on the 7th of August, WT is still going

My other DL's were planted this year, so I don't know yet how they will do the coming winter

EDITED:
White Temptation is gone from 4 fans last year to 10 fans now :-)
Flowers are 5 inch as stated in the database, but the scape height is 26 inches, not 32 (still above the foliage)

According to the USDA: "Hardiness zones are based on the average annual extreme minimum temperature during a 30-year period in the past, not the lowest temperature that has ever occurred in the past or might occur in the future."

The Pacific Bulb Society has a page that gives the equivalent hardiness zones for different parts of the world, there's a map for Europe:

It's a little hard to read that map but I think it puts you in Zone 8? According to this Wikipedia page Amsterdam is 8b:

hmm, it is hard to see on the map..

Amsterdam is 8b, but it's about 30 km from the coast and The Hague is right next to the North Sea..
So I think I'm 9a, also because my garden is very sheltered
I have been growing an oleander and an olive tree for years without too much trouble

I would have thought there would be a difference too, I lived on the south coast of England and that strip along the coast was a zone warmer than further inland so I was on the border between 9a and 9b. Sooo, I found this hardiness zone map of the Netherlands, and it says The Hague is 9a

Oleanders are surprisingly tough, I have one here but of course it comes in for the winter - not until it starts getting below about -5C at night though.

I have had daylilies since I moved to the beach in 2000. Very few survived the past 15 years! I'd had most my favorites for maybe 5-6 years so they really are keepers.

Favorites include:
Barbara Mandrell (excellent branching, good adaptability to a tough location)

Hot Gossip (blooming fool!)
Jedi Brenda Spann (her beautiful blooms belie her age)

Parrot Moon (took a couple of years to settle in--stunning)

Arlene - I just got Jedi Brenda Spann ! Do you happen to have any bloom and/or foliage photos or her?

Becky, I've had Jedi Brenda for at least 10 years. This year she bloomed in the foliage until she started reblooming. Her first bloom was 4/19/15 on a 17" scape and with a 6" bloom. She was still blooming as of August 7. Budcount ranged from 3 way with 17 buds to 2 way with 12 buds.

She's still blooming since the middle of April????? Are ya kiddin me????!!! Wow! I hope mine does that, too! That would surely make me smile!
