Can't seem to pin this down to which one it is. Any idea. The flower stalk is about 19 inches tall.

Probably Goldenrod (Solidago sphacelata 'Golden Fleece') . It's a widely grown cultivar.

Never looked at S. sphacelata cultivars because the species had such narrow leaves. Those round leaves had me stymied. Lesson learned. Thank you Kent.
