I got these from a friend maybe 6 weeks ago and thought I'd put all of the names in my plant list here to keep track of. These look like 2 diff things and now I'm not sure which is Kalanchoe laetivirens (the only name on my list either resemble, to the best of my knowledge) and what the other one is, if they are different. They're less than a foot from each other, so cultural/light difference isn't a factor. Any thoughts welcome & appreciated! TIA!

Kalanchoes I have:
=on&genus=Kalanchoe&submit=Update+view]http://garden.org/lists/view/purpleinopp/?status[Have]=on&ge...

Almost forgot, I also have this, which I'm completely confused about also, not sure if it's a Kalanchoe, or what type, if so.

#2 is K. laetivirens.
Mother of Thousands (Kalanchoe laetivirens)

Here's new pics of #1, seems to be K. pinnata:

And #3 remains a mystery. As far as plants go, it's really blue:

I seem to remember a while back a discussion about K Diagremontiana. Seems there was a difference between that and another Kalanchoe. One had a small "lip" at the base of the leaf and the other did not. That was how you could discern which was who?? Unfortunately my rusty sieve brain can't remember the name of the Kalanchoe...just that there was a lot of confusion and it was determined that they were two different plants. I am pretty sure that was on the DG site.

TY for the inputs! It's not diagremontiana because it doesn't have that lip or any markings/variegation. It's not x houghtonii, I have TONS of those, many pics added to the database here.

I've cut off the top half to put in a pot. It's such an unusual color...

@purpleinopp Hey Tiffany,

Have you compared your plant to The Plant List?

Sometimes variegations and markings occur on the Kalanchoe later as it matures further. I would suggest you wait a bit, give it a full growing/year to see how it makes more babies and blooms. I have a Kalanchoe that will make new growth totally green in the center and later on the markings and variegations appear.

Thanks for the inputs! I've looked up hundreds of species (by both Kal and Bryophyllum) but can't find one that looks like my plant, with purplish foliage (on a site that's reliable, not flickr, photobucket, pinterest.)

These are the species I've ruled out so far (and have most of them):
beauvardii
beharensis
blossfeldiana
citrina
crenata
delagoensis
diagremontiana
eriophylla
fedtschenkoi
gastonis-bonnieri
laetivirens
longiflora
luciae
marmorata
millotii
orgyalis
pinnata
pumila
tomentosa
x houghtonii

My plant has been in the ground in the sun since June... several species of Kal are starting to form buds now. Hopefully this will be one of them!

What kind of Kalanchoe did you describe at the end of your post, Tarev?

Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi variegated and Kalanchoe marmorata. I don't know if with fedtschenkoi is just a reversal but it makes changes later on, or is it dependent on the seasons..amount of light and water. Extremely long dry period here on my side and now cool conditions are early as well.
I have them both in same container:

If it wasn't for the babies on the leaf, I would suggest it was maybe a stonecrop. Something like Hylotelephium telephium Purple opine.

Jean, IKR! So many of them with purplish foliage.

TY for the work you did on that post, Tarev! IME with Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi leaf-edge babies, they lose the variegation. Stem cuttings seem to be the way to go to preserve that. I ended up with a small forest of those this year, send excess to about 10 people. Just took pics of some of the plants that are still here.

These plants have been in their places since March (but not the K. delagoensis babies also in the pic.) The ones started as leaf-edge babies last summer and over winter have never developed any variegation, and are as big as mama plants by now.

The one here is hard to capture in pics, it's about 18" & leaning sideways on its' companions ever since a strong wind about 6 weeks ago, K. blossfeldiana & x houghtonii. It's about 2 yrs old.

This is my fav specimen. All of my plants of this species came various propagations of a little single-stem clearance plant bought a few yrs ago.

Here are babies from removing leaves of both variegated & non. The non-variegated ones have resulted in a whole new crop of non-variegated babies, as expected. (They look a lot like K. marnieriana until they start to get some age.) The variegated leaves make albino pups that never make roots, at least on the ground at my house & inside over winter. Just like what's said about 'Pink Butterflies.'
Thumb of 2015-11-06/purpleinopp/a55952

These were still in place around the shriveled variegated mama leaf (unrecognizably brown, crispy) until a few mins ago. I turned them all upside-down, no roots.
Thumb of 2015-11-06/purpleinopp/2dea22

I "almost" had K. marmorata. I was sent a few leaves in June but they didn't make babies, they just shriveled. I was so bummed! One was about as big around as a softball, with beautiful markings. On my list to try again next year, assuming I can arrange a trade or for-postage.

...what babies start out purple, just like their mama?

These variegated leaves just can't make babies (just like what is said of the 'Pink Butterflies' cultivar.) I've put so many leaves on the ground this spring and the same thing happens with all of them, albinism & no roots.

I was unable to put mystery blue Kalanchoe near a good window for winter & the buds from my last pic of this in Dec. aborted.

A few pics from yesterday. I doubt they will cause the ID to be recognized, but wanted to add them to the discussion before I lose track of them.

All of the other Kals laugh and call him names (though none are a species,) and don't let him join in their games. Well, at least the K. x houghtonii's...
