Mike, that is a beautiful Hooker's Orchid Cactus (Epiphyllum hookeri) (Synonym strictum) I had a large one in a container for years and planted it in the ground at our old house ... sold the house at the beginning of the year and left the plant. I should have dug it up and brought it to our new place; it was an easy care Epi for me and seemed to thrive on neglect in a shady corner of the backyard. Love those pink blooms ... I can truly see this forum is going to have me making a list for next summer once we move to our retirement home. Green Grin!

Larry, WOW ... that is a big Epi; looking forward to seeing bloom photos of that one!

Ursula & Carol .... Lovey dubby those red beauties!!

I wish our garden centers carried Epiphyllum but it's been years since I've seen any for sale; used to be Exotic Angel sold the E. oxypetalum but I haven't even seen those in a few years. All I ever see are pots of ivy, ivy and ivy. Grumbling I think next spring or early summer once we get settled I might order a couple of the more colorful ones ... and of course I'll have to blame it on this enabling forum. Green Grin!

..It has over doubled in size.
beckygardener said:I have several epis, but most are cuttings that have yet to bloom. The one that I have that is my oldest plant and blooms reliably is E. oxypetalum. I walked out on the porch tonight to let my dog out for a potty break and the fragrance about knocked me over! I knew right away what it was and saw those big bold white blooms! I wished I could bottle up that scent because it is divine to my nose!

Do you grow Epiphyllums and can share some bloom photos?
