Yeah its to hot here in summer to grow in a glass house. Iv'e always wanted one but i just keep to my shadecloth covered house and i need fans even in that in summer for my Paphs. They suffer in summer from the humidity. Jim you need to be able to open big windows across from each other or something in summer. Yeah having to use a cooler would be innoying not to mention the power cost.

There are open windows on three sides, Bree. The builder agrees there should be bigger fans in place and is working on it. Please remember I never intended to create a climate controlled year around 75 degree environment. This is Florida and my orchids have been growing outside for years. If I can maintain the same temp inside the new enclosure as outside, protect from UV rays and provide partial shade, I have achieved my initial goal.

First lesson learned. I guess I hung the Stanhopeas too close to the roof and they started to fry. I moved them back to the bushes until I come up with a plan. I hope they recover.

I always hang a large Cattleya over my Stanhopea wardii, meaning I use the more sunloving Orchids to shade the thin-leaved ones when moving back into the Greenhouse.
Jim, I agree, they will recover.

I just tried to take some pics but my camera keeps fogging up. I did manage to capture Carol's Florida version of her Gerberara 'Snow Ballet' . Your baby is doing well down here, Carol.

Nice ones. My Green Hornet has buds. But the Massachusetts version of Carol's Gerberara 'Snow Ballet' is silent.
Rhycholaelia digbyana today.

Kathy, My 'snow ballet' is just starting to bloom here. We haven't had enough sun or heat until the past couple of weeks for anything to bloom normally. I would think that one could take full sun where you are.

This dendrobium came back from the dead. I swore it had been frozen but here it is, blooming again off new growth.
