Paul -- I think the secret to the Magical pictures is the shade on the north side of the house -- it really makes a contrast against her light coloration. Smiling

I just had one bloom stalk on Magical this year... Hoping for more next Spring.. Joe Ghio's pinks are quite beautiful. I got a few more of them this year.. I think that 'Double Platinum' is the one I'm most looking forward to seeing of his..

At our sales and picnic, I'm just grabbing Iris kind of willy-nilly.. People are saying "you must have this, or that", I I take their word for it.. It's fun coming home and looking up all the pictures to see exactly what I got... My heart skipped a beat when I pulled up this picture of Carl's to 'Double Platinum'. Lovey dubby

Yes, I can see why it would Hurray!

Thanks for the explanation of lacy, I guess crimped or ruffled would be more of the style I was wondering about.

I don't know the difference between "crimped" and "laced".. Anyone care to educate me?

Sherry, "I think" Teresa and I were not up on our terminology and crimpled might be another word for ruffled.
Teresa is this correct? Blinking

IMHO.......I have read a lot of iris publications and catalogs over a number of years and don't remember the term 'crimped' being used to describe iris flowers very often. Ruffled, gently ruffled, heavily ruffled, bubble ruffled, are used. Laced flower have tiny indentations which can be combined with ruffles. My personal taste is for lots of ruffles on wide nicely held petals as long as the flower opens well. I am not crazy for lace. Older iris, the historicals, I would call tailored or perhaps plain.

Barbara, I think crimped and laced are similar, if not the same. I wish I could remember the iris I was looking at with the description of crimped.
