Not an iris but I had to think long and hard before planting a $5 daylily clump of TN Vols . I am a true blue KY Wildcat fan. It is a great orange so I did cave and it looks great.

At least the name is applicable, and you can always get the iris 'Wildcat Madness' which is also very applicably named.

It's a new John Van Hook (a KY hybridizer) intro this year, so ya might want to wait a couple of years to get it. He was having some health issues and didn't make it to the last meeting and rhizome sale- I think everyone was hoping he'd have some Wildcat Madness with him.

John Van Hook lives in Somerset, KY. It is his Dad who has health issues. John was just knee-deep in mud from all of the rain down there and having trouble getting his work done and orders dug as well as helping with his Dad.
I have to support my Wildcats but have a son-in-law who is a Blue Devil Duke grad.
I don't care what an iris is named as long as it blooms but I do have Sordid Lives and Devil's Lake.

So many Kentuckians on this thread! I went to U of K my first year of college. Rupp was coach of the
basketball team then. Most memorable was having Wendell Berry as my freshman comp professor!
Berry just received a major Humanities award from President Obama.

Dodger Blue opened for me the first time this year, and it is an amazing blue color. One of the best blues I've seen. I guess if a name offended me I'd give it a new name for my garden. I suppose I could call it Brewer Blue!
