This plant was given to my wife and was told it was a coffee plant. I did look for an ID under that name but nothing came up. Can someone give me a scientific name or correct common name?

I don't know much about coffee but it looks more like some kind of Cassava plant; sure is pretty whatever it is.
Hope someone comes along who can ID this one!

Manihot michaelis comes close. I imagine the leaves don't always droop like in the photo, they are the correct shape.

Interesting! Most photos of Jatropha gossypifolia leaves have three lobes, yet the one on onalee's site has 5.

Found a site which mentions 3-5 lobes ..

Tuba-tuba is an erect, branched shrub usually less than one meter high. Petioles, leaf margins and inflorescences are covered with numerous, capitate-glandular hairs. Leaves are shining, smooth, palmately 3- or 5-lobed, 7 to 12 centimeters long, the lobes oblong-ovate and the younger leaves being purplish.

I can't see the "capitate-glandular hairs" on this plant, does it have them? Looking closer I can see some lower leaves do have 3 lobes.

It looks to be a very variable plant.
