I have tried to add some of the S heuffelii, but it won't accept them when I type them into the search.

Oops, *Blush* I see my error. There is one forum which includes both Agastache and Salvia...perhaps there could be a
"Agastache and/or Salvia of the Day" in that forum? Would that work?

Marilyn, right now the system is limited to forums that are linked to their respective databases. Since we have one forum but two custom databases, I can't set this up.

I could setup ONE of them, either Salvias or Agastache, but I can't do both.

@dave

I'd be happy for a setup on Salvias.

Thank you! I tip my hat to you. Thumbs up

I didn't know about people getting acorns for their performance reviews. I should incorporate that into my 'Plumeria of the Day' text!!

If you haven't already, check out a few of the threads from the Daylily of the Day:

http://garden.org/forums/view/...

That will give you some ideas ..... for what I post to the intro post for each thread. I absolutely believe earning acorns inspires members to post their performance evaluations for any cultivars that they have. It takes time to post, so I reward members for their effort and time. Thumbs up

It's not automatic. The moderators of the section (beckygardener and jon) are manually giving acorns to the posters. So don't mention it unless you're giving acorns. And if you did give acorns, I'll periodically give you acorns so you're not spending your own.

Lynn, I realized that there is a limitation here: the plant of the day must be a cultivar. That's why it wasn't finding the species you were looking for.

Lynn, I looked and actually, the system should support any Sempervivum and it doesn't have to be a cultivar. Try again and if it's not working, let me know.

No, it still not working. I've tried typing it in several ways:
Sempervivum 'Gold Bug'
Sempervivum heufelli 'Gold Bug'
Gold Bug.

Never mind, I found it.

That plant is in the Jovibarba database. Only Sempervivum database plants can be featured.

The odd thing to me is that I can do a search using the database for Sempervivum 'Gold Bug' and it comes up. I just thought that it would work for this new feature also.
And the Forum is Sempervivum and Jovibarba.

The Plant of the Day feature is only available for one custom database at a time.

Since we have Sempervivums separate from Jovibarbas, you have to pick one. S. heufelli are jovibarbas. Sorry, it's a limitation on the feature that won't be able to be worked around.

The only way to work around it is to combine the jovibarba and sempervivum database into one custom database, but I don't think we want to do that.

So the past plants get moved to that new Past Plants of the Day Forum and then are no longer on the forum they started off at?

For instance I am late to the party here but noticed Orange Velvet in the Past Plants Forum but no longer see it on the Daylily Forum.

Right, they get archived just like you described. Once the thread is 7 days old it automatically gets moved to the other forum, mainly so that the original forum doesn't get completely clogged with 365 of these threads after a year has gone by.

The threads continue to be available as always, and can continue to receive replies. Members who participated in the threads can also continue to view them via their thread watcher, "My Posts" feature, and of course just going to that archive forum.
