Fina order--my computer didn't eat them after all, just my camera didn't have the right date. Duh.

Quality roots from Adelman and Fina. Chateau CharMaron has some nice peony pics and now I see the roots they send. Nice multiple eyes.

So far I think Adelmans have looked the best this year. I'm also hoping for some nice blooms next year, I think we're due for a good peony spring! I'm knocking on wood with my forehead as I type this so hopefully I didn't just jinx myself to another 7 years of bad spring....oh, wait, I'm mixing up superstitions.....

How are your planting going, Liz? The roots look great! I would love to see blooms from your Margaret Delight, Kirinmaru, and Pink Parasol Surprise from the above group of roots. Actually, it would be really awesome to see pics of all your new peonies last year and this year. I truly hope and wish that you will have favorable blooming peony weather next year- not too hot, not too cold, and no sudden freezes or hail. With so many new peonies, do you plan to take a few vacation days to enjoy them should you have a good blooming season?

Thanks Karen! I'd love to see some first year blooms, too! The last few years, feels like we went straight from crazy cold/snowy winter to summer and the peony blooms really suffered. Even so there were enough blooms to keep me enthusiastic. I'm really excited about this year's roots, there are several that have been on my "Wanted" list for some time that were available this year. I swear I'm going to slow down next season and just enjoy the ones I have instead of ordering more....
I'm still waiting for 4 orders, Bannisters, Hidden Springs, Hollingsworth and Tree Peony Garden. I really hope I don't get them on the same day! I've been able to keep up with planting okay so far, only issue was receiving Adelmans on a Monday. Hope the rest come in over the next 2-3 weeks on a Thursday or Friday!
I normally work 4 days/week anyway so I should have plenty of time to enjoy the blooms. I fell into the habit last spring of taking pictures of peony growth/buds/flowers each evening when I got home and putting them on my computer/naming and all on my last workday, that seemed to work pretty well.
Still working on the last weeding of the season and putting down fresh mulch. I probably still have more than half of the 20 yards we had delivered to put on beds. I'm HOPING there will be some left over, don't think I really have that many square feet of garden....guess I'll see over the next several weeks. Still no predictions for our first hard freeze this year, hope it holds off until well into November!

Yan, I haven't received my order from Bannister. The owner told me it will be around the second week of October. I tried to add three more varieties, but I did not get a reply. They must be real busy now.

My order from Swenson arrived today. All the roots look great! I hope that I will get some flowers from them next year. So excited! I am glad that order from Bannister coming later because I don't have the soil worked out for those plants yet.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures, Kousa! They always send nice roots.
Got an email saying my Tree Peony Garden order is on the way, still waiting for notification from Bannisters, Hollingsworth and Hidden Springs. I emailed all 3 last weekend to see when they'd ship, all said they would go out this last week. No shipping notices so I'm thinking they were delayed. Weird, this is the latest Hollingsworth has ever shipped to me.

Hollingsworth is no longer Don Hollingsworth's business. They work with him still but he isn't the shipper like he was during the run of his own business.

Got my Bannister order. Shipping was in the expensive side and some of the roots look to have sat around a bit but for the price of each root, I can't really complain.

Klehms shipped to me last week and everything looked great.

Yeah, Hollingsworth was the same last fall with the new owners. I'm sure they've taken over much more of the operation this year--all of the emails I've received from them this season have been from Joergen instead of Tim from the previous years. I'm reserving judgment for a while, don't plan to abandon them just because Don is retiring! They still have the best selection of peonies that I really like of all of the growers, we'll see how it goes with the transition of ownership.
"roots look to have sat around a bit" concerns me. I went a little crazy ordering from Bannisters because the prices were so good. I'm really hoping everything arrives healthy. Order from Hidden Springs should be on the way, although I never received a confirmation email. Their website is open again for late orders. Anyone interested in paying out $100 for Independence Day has another chance, it's part of their late order selection! They have several that have been reduced by a few dollars, probably an average of 10%. They still have several that are listed as rare.
I was a bit disappointed by my order from Chateau CharMarron this year, the roots were okay but they looked to have sat around a bit as well. Those were full priced, though, so I'm not sure I'll order from them again.

Liz, I wish I had know that earlier, I just placed an order with Chateau CharMarron last night. Oh well, let's see what I'm going to get this time.
