It is supposed to rain today so I am holding off watering the Vandas. We shall see. Shrug!

I am holding my breath that my Den Clown Feathers 'Clown Alley' HCC/AOS opens today. I almost don't want to look for fear that the plant up and died in the middle of the night. It has been a challenge to grow.

Pretty blooms, Ursula. I did sort out the grass quandary. The guy had a long string of torpedo grass, some crab grass and a clump of St. Augustinegrass. He left happy knowing what to kill and what to encourage.

From the OC this morning, Rhynchovola [Rcv.] Moonlight Perfume (B. nodosa x Rl. glauca)

B. Little Stars (B. nodosa x B. subulifolia) is beginning to bloom and nicely scent the OC at night.

I love Little Stars; it should be called little hearts.

Yes, the lips are very heart-shaped, aren't they. But the petals also look like a pointy star. Most of my brassavola types bloom at least twice and sometimes 3 times per year, too.

They are my all-time favorite to give as a gift. I got a whole bunch of them last year and gave them to all my friends, and helpers as holiday gifts. We got them in bloom for something like $5 each up in Apopka.

What could be better than an orchid called Little Stars as a holiday gift? Now, what the heck am I going to give everyone this year?? I'd love to give "Everything Nice" but those were a bit more expensive and don't bloom as easily or as often.

The guy will probably need a nuclear device to kill the torpedo grass! Whistling We don't have it up here but it sure was a problem down on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

If it gets into your flowers, you can kill it with Fusilade without hurting anything but if it is out in your yard with other grasses, you are pretty well limited to Round-up and start over.

I have a presentation to give at one of the county libraries tonight and another one tomorrow night. I'm also singing in a group for a senior center tomorrow in the morning. Today I was here for the cleaning girl and then the window cleaners. Every time I sit down, ten things come to mind that need doing. I guess I'm just wired wrong. Lots of PM rain today, just like most of the days. When cooler weather arrives, I'll have to replace some turf and replace the citrus with something. Not sure what yet but it will have to take wet conditions.

I am going to have citrus fruit for the first time. I still don't have a clue what the tree is. When I scratch a leaf, it smells like orange. But the fruit so far are shaped like lime/lemon.

I really need to trim that tree back. It is at least 7' tall and 4' wide. I don't know what I will do with it come fall. Sighing!

It is in full sun and is too dense to put any hanging orchids. Sighing!

Two bloomers today. I LOVE the Vandachostylis Mishima Lime. Wow! A couple of days made all the difference. The other is a first bloom seedling from an SVO cross. I was expecting a bright yellow with red flares. This one didn't quite bloom the way I thought it would. Rlc. Haw Yuan Moon 'SVO' x Slc. Fire Fantasy' H&R'

Melissa, That's why I only blooming plants from SVO. They do so many crosses, but even knowing the parents, you never know what the seedling will be. Luckily, they are at most of our local shows.

I love the subtle brushed colors on your Rlc. Haw Yuan Moon 'SVO' x Slc. Fire Fantasy' even if it's not the 'right' color. Could be it will become more vivid as the plant matures more?

A couple of mine have done that including the Renate I've been showing for the last weeks. It was very pale and insipid when it first bloomed.

Unfortunately not. I was really hoping for this http://www.sunsetvalleyorchids...

But with crosses, you never know which one you will get. They are more interesting than clones, but this makes two recent Catt crosses that didn't turn out like I wanted. Bummer. Sighing!

Well, my dislike will be someone's lucky day. I have donated them to our MOS and the bidding war has begun. Rolling on the floor laughing
