Betty and Gerry, very nice seedlings ... i would love to have them ... :-)

well I can´t have all I like. So I´m happy about the last flower (the fourth) of my converted (germ conversion) seedling Catherine Woodbery x Flore Pleno and the results.
I´m glad that cross worked because flore pleno is most time triploid

Thumb of 2015-09-02/Heart2Heart/cf0912

and the results of 2 tet. fertilisations (for the second flower I used dip pollen - no result)

I hope that the fruits are not empty.

Unfortunately there are a lot Spider mites and thrips on it

then: new seedlings waiting to be pricked

Betty- I can see why that is your favorite seedling, great edge, and a bi-color ( hope that's the right term), it is beautiful!

Gerry- The spider bug has not hit me yet, but I can see the great large throat, and those flowing curls, great seedling!

I am going to miss this thread as the season ends, most. It is true, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it has been wonderful to share in everyone's excitement over their babies. I have come to appreciate forms, patterns, and colors because of that excitement, that at first glance I turned away from. Thank you again, to everyone who has shared their Daylily creations.

Fred, you mentioned that Gerry's seedling is a UF, but I thought of it as a spider when I saw it. I know you are a judge and am hoping you will share with me/us why that beautiful bloom is a UF. I guess I'm confused because I thought if the length vs width of a petal was at least 4:1 it was a spider. Can you help me to understand the difference?

Can't they be both a spider and UF? If the ratio is 4:1 and they also twist, pinch or curl, wouldn't they then be a UF spider? I'm interested in the answer here.

Yes, they can be both ....

If with "UF" unusual form (UFO) is meant, then that is a classification of the flowers form. This is regardless of the ratio. A Spider and a non-Spider can be a UFO.

... here from AHS (page 7 and 8):

http://www.daylilies.org/Dayli...

SPIDER
On a Spider, the petals and sepals are much longer in proportion to thei
r width than a normal
flower. A SPIDER is a daylily whose petal length to width ratio is at least 4.0:1. A box is provided
for you to indicate if the cultivar is a SPIDER with space to record petal width and length in inches.
Measuring a Spider daylily: F
or width, measure the longest petal at its widest point as naturally
standing (without uncurling, unfolding, or flattening any portion of the petal). For length, stretch
out the petal to its fullest and measure the length of the longest petal from its tip
to the v
-
shaped
notch formed where the adjacent sepals separate at the neck of the flower. The result of dividing
the length by the width is expressed in the form of a ratio (e.g., 5.6:1 which is read "five point six
to one").
UNUSUAL FORM
The registratio
n class designated as
Unusual Form
, includes
crispate
(pinched, twisted, or quilled
floral segments);
cascading
(narrow curling or cascading segments); and
spatulate
(segments
markedly wider at the end like a kitchen spatula). The Unusual Form class is bas
ed exclusively on
form not on color or color patterns. An Unusual Form must display Unusual Form characteristics
on at least 3 petals or 3 sepals

Been away for a while. Got home and Pink Piranha x Men in Black sent up a rebloom a scape. Has both white and yellow teeth/edge, with some teeth on the sepals.

Very nice Ken
The reason I said UF, the length and width was not posted with the photo so I have no way of knowing if its a spider. It could very well be both but only Gerry would know.

Ken, beautiful seedling. I love the colors and the form with lots of teeth.

Hans, thank you for the information. I need to dissect it and absorb it before I can actually use it.
