I love that beeface Asa! And Dirt, that's a fabulous shot but I agree that face is kind creepy.

I didn't get any good bee pics but here's the dragonfly of the day. Usually I take a few photos and hope that I got one good one but all four of the shots came out pretty good, I think, so haven't deleted any.

Wonderful Christine!
don't delete Smiling

I love its glowing green eyes!
it is really a sweet, little sand wasp, genus Bembix, likely B. americana, but I can't really know.
Very challenging to photograph in the wind and bad light and it was bouncing all over the place and it just would not pose for me within my range Hilarious!

Interesting little sand wasp Dirt... it says here http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/sand-wasps that its a friendly wasp and you can feed the cute little thing out of your hand if you present it with a fly. Hilarious!

Good to know! I thought it was pretty sweet Smiling
I can assure you, though, that it is much faster and agile than I and it will have to catch it's own flies Hilarious!

So I want to know who decided to try feeding the sand wasp out of their hand to see how friendly it was?

It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...
