I spotted another Anhinga along the waters edge early this afternoon; it looked funny with it's neck stretched out and it was making strange gawking noises. I looked around thinking maybe there was a snake in the water but all I saw were turtles. After a few minutes the Anhinga jumped in and swam away.

I haven't seen one bird visit the feeders today, more than likely due to the hawks our and about, looking for an easy meal. I took the dog out an hour ago and this Red-shouldered Hawk was perched on the next door neighbors roof:

Christine - I am SOOO jealous! Look at all those hummers! WOW!!!

I guess I need to put up a couple of feeders since the males might be starting to come through since it is September.

I hope the "boys" return to my backyard this Winter. I will know as all 3 of them were banded last Winter. Maybe a new bird or two would be nice too! Smiling

Loving all the birdie photos! I have been hearing some unusual bird singing going on in the backyard. I have no idea what bird is making the noise, but it's song is one I have never heard before. Wished I could get a look at what it is.

Lin - Great shots!

There were 3 red-shouldered hawks out late yesterday just raising a ruckus around my neighborhood. I was wondering if one of the hawks was a youngster. I think two of the hawks are a mating pair. Not sure what they were after, but they were all three screeching to wake the dead. I had to go outside to see what was going on. Hopefully they didn't get one of my sweet doves.

At the birdbath today.

3 bluebirds of varying ages. Who knows what age of the one who is currently doing the splish splash. The one on the right rim is certainly one of the last clutch of this year. And on the left side you see the juvie male Summer Tanager - he's getting more & more color.

Thanks Beckie! I do love the tiny birds. I never had these two in Hobe Sound. It sort of makes up for losing the painted buntings.

Awwwwwwww, that wittle goldfinch is so cute Ronnie. I wonder if it will show up here at my house for the winter?
Ronnie, I have really enjoyed the bluebirds. I had never seen one in real life before we moved up here. And we have a whole bunch of them! They seem to be pretty successful bringing up the kids too because every year we have scads & scads & scads of babies. I am very thankful for the bluebirds eating tons of bugs that would otherwise plague us.

Beautiful shots, all. I agree, Lin the hawk pictures are just lovely.

Speaking of birdie songs, I've been dying to tell someone about my high tech singers here. The Carolina Wrens hereabouts seem to be very creative. One sings about designer shoes "JimmyChoo, JimmyChoo" and another yesterday was warbling about "Video, Video, Video". So much fun.

Ann, Great shots! I'm loving the birds at the birdbath photos, it's so much fun to watch them splash about! Love the little Blue Birds and that pretty Summer Tanager, I'd love to see those around here! The little Chickadee's are so cute, I've only had sightings twice of that one; back in 2011 and one stopped by last October.

Ronnie, that chubby little baby Goldfinch is adorable, great shot! Lovey dubby

Y'all are cracking me up with the descriptions of the bird songs! I'll need to listen closer to my backyard birds to see if I can "Name That Tune". I do believe that I've heard the Wrens singing "Video, Video, Video" but no Cardinal's singing "Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger". My husband would probably say it was trying to sing"Cheeseburger in Paradise" (he's a big Jimmy Buffet fan.)
