Last night, my husband and I cut the massive root of Yumi with hack saw and miter saw. I let them dry overnight and will be stored in a peatmoss in the basement until I can plant them on Thursday.

I did not do a good job of cutting Kopper Kettle by myself so hopefully the small division with little roots will make it. They were already planted yesterday along with all of my Swenson order.

I agree You and your husband did an awesome job, Lily! Those roots are not easy to deal with. I am glad that I got help from my brother and his friend who does landscaping and has alot of tools and equipment. They moved my Bartzella without any difficulty. Where are you going to plant all of your divisions? Do you have room?

Thank you ladies!

Tell me about it Karen! I am currently redoing my garden. We cut down two big trees in our yard so the hostas will be relocated and so are the shade plants. I got rid of the common hostas so I can have space for the peonies. I have a few mature hostas like Sagae, Blue Angel, Elegans and others that I am keeping. Wish I have a friend that has the tools for digging! My husband's friend is coming over this weekend to help me dig.

Care enough to do your very best!
Can anyone tell me how to eliminate the insects within the cut blossoms? I would like to bring some in the house, but don't want the ants, etc.

I spread my used coffee grounds (unflavored, ants like the sweetened stuff) around the base of my peonies, greatly reduces the number of ants. I've also read of people using diatomaceous earth as well, supposed to be a natural insecticide. Good luck!
