Its neighbour, Phylodendron mamei, is on its left side. It had no tag I really looked well under the big leaves, the topside have a greyish mat hue, backsides are a dark purple burgundy red.
Name: LariAnn Garner south Florida, USA When in doubt, do the cross!
This plant is not a Philodendron - it is my hybrid of Alocasia odora and Alocasia cuprea (Alocasia x cupredora), done years ago. It ended up at that garden, most likely, because Fairchild Tropical Garden shared it with them. Fairchild is the first garden that got one of these. See my page below for more info.
Name: Evan Pioneer Valley south, MA, USA (Zone 6a)
Oh my! I would love to see you succeed in crossing this with A. odora! So far your odora hybrids are by far the largest or most vigorous growers here. Elephant's Ear (Alocasia 'Maroon Shield')
That is the one! LariAnn for popping in! Amazing how your hybrid Alocasia ended up at the Botanical Garden UG, Ghent, Belgium! It sure is a beauty!
And thank you Evan for asking!
