Last night, while at my parents house, their neighbors came over to tell us their plant, a night blooming Cereus, which only blooms one night a year, was in bloom. I took several pictures, eager to post them here on ATP, only to find out that there are multiple "night blooming Cereus" varieties. Can anyone help me ID this one so I know where to post the pictures? (All I know is that it is an epiphyte, grows big, and blooms one night a year. )

I can't see much of the leaves, but it looks like Epiphyllum oxypetalum to me. What I know as night blooming Cereus is not a Epiphyte, but a desert cactus., but there seems to be controversey about that.

Carol and Lin, thank you!

You mentioned leaves and I do have a picture that sort of shows the leaves (click picture to show the full image), if that helps confirm:

They sure look like leaves of E. oxypetalum to me, for comparison:

I have one of these plants that is very old, it has been passed down through my partner's family. I have gotten it to bloom once a year for the 6 or 7 years we've had it, but this year it has bloomed many times. It has grown buds five times throughout the summer and now it has buds again. Not that I'm complaining, but I am a little worried it is at the end of its life. Has anyone heard of this happening before?
