I'll bet thats what it is. I had one lily that had little black balls where the leaf comes off the stem.
Here is a collage. My money is on Momenteous.
Like I said I couldnt believe my luck with colors where I planted the bulbs last November. These look smashing with the peonypoppies Venus.
I would scream if the Lily was Zeuse however.
The poppies are Venus's.
I think it is Momentous. As I recall it lightens up with age. That bloom right above your "MY NOID" definitely looks like it has the pink petal tips of Momentous.
Jo Ann's not going to trade them anyway, so no chance of passing along the wrong bulb.
I think 2 and 7 are the same also.
Beautiful seedling bed, Connie! How do you keep them labeled? That's my biggest fear, with the bulbs that came from Lisa, via Dee, is that something will happen with the labeling, they are in pretty tight together. Although, I guess if I had three labels nearby, it would be easy to pick out the correct one.
Jo Ann, yes I think you are right on PF Salmon. I don't know how I missed that one on buggy's site.
Polly, labeling has been a big problem for years with me. Plastic things stuck in the ground usually didn't make it through the winter with the jays going around pulling them out for the fun of it. Now that I use eon markers the jays (and wind) don't budge them. I put the label in right in front of the lily. Unfortunately lilies can wander. My S-1 trumpet wandered a full foot or more underground bumping into S-2. Then S-1 was a no show this year so I didn't know if I still had it until I dug them all up!
Garden maps haven't worked well with the seedling bed, mainly because if something died I would replace it with something else and not update the map. Then of course I have total amnesia by the time the next bloom season rolls around.
I'm worse than that Connie, I'll dig up and divide an iris and forget what it is by the time I get to the house to make a label. I can always go back to where the hole is and my charts and get the name, but my gosh.
The lilies wandering are what I'm worried about. Since mine don't have a lot of space between them.
Same here Polly. I dug out all of my irises along with the lilies (how did I ever get so ambitious??). I flopped them all up on the lawn so I could rework the soil. THEN I pulled the labels out. Needless to say, most went back in without labels. But I think I can figure it out when they bloom again since I only keep my most favorite ones now.
I have to say most of my lilies don't move laterally much. My S-1 really amazed me though. By the way all of my S's are David Sims seedlings, hence the S prefix. I had to go to this method because essentially all of my original plastic labels with lot numbers were pulled out by jays within the first year I planted them! Those dang birds!!

Polly is right. I wont be going into business and am not much of a "joiner" so no lily societies or garden clubs for me to trade with.
Connie: I made grids and maps of the gardens too.I wanted to totally plant all the area I had started, in 3 years. I still referr to the maps but as you said many have changed because I am an impulse buyer. I usually check the digitals to see where things actually are.
Tony: I am usually disapointed in a lily mix and there are companies that send left-over bulbs in colors no-one wants. Also out of a dozen or so there are three varieties. Its a gamble.
I do still map out my seedling areas, because what comes up might not be identifiable if a tag gets lost. I simply list the plants in other gardens and that's enough. I still try to keep labels with every plant, however. Keeping your list(s) on the computer makes them easy to change with additions, corrections or deletions.
From experience, I have a piece of advice: keep a hard copy of your lists/maps every year, and/or save them separately to the pc. In future years, you will want to go back and see if you grew such and such plant, for instance.
Presently, I have taken to leaving deceased plant names on my lists, but putting a strike through them with a note on when/why they died or why I pulled them out.

I'm very anal about the irises. I have them mapped out on paper and computer, metal tags, and plastic tags buried with them. Now that I have the sale irises in rows it's much easier. I have lists of the bed by row, and by alphabet. And I have pictures for reference.
But I have collections of lilies, lilacs, semps, hostas, clems, now starting with daylilies. And how many lists and tags can you make.
Anthony, I am so glad you mentioned Hudson seeds. I hadn't looked at that website in years. They have quite a seed list! Are their seeds pretty good?
