Oh my goodness! Wait for it............a silk-satin luster on the petals that amplify the richness of the color....black is it....or.....?

Rick,
The flower is gorgeous with its satin-sheen petals, but hard to describe the colors.
Okay, how about these: burgundy, maroon, claret, or merlot wine...with a fiery red-pink color radiating from the center.

I think I can see some black in the petals but not sure.

It makes quite a difference on the lighting with this bloom. The glow on top petal was not as noticeable until I had taken the photo. Inside is this color. The sunlight is reflecting to create this, I imagine.

David Clulow just posted a write up with photo's about these dark, almost black blooming trees.
Showing how the buds are as black/purple as the bloom when it opens. This one was like this.
This is the darkest of all of my blooms.
