Thread OP

Found this plant dying in a yard that nobody lives in and would like to nurse it back to good health.I don't know what it is can someone please help?

Yep, I agree with Musa - it's a Banana plant!

...and I just looked again...there are two plants in that pot. The Banana is the taller of the two.
