I saw this recently and was wondering if anyone owns this tool? If so, what do you think of it? And are there any other tools similar out there?

Mayo - I just happened to come across a website that showed it so I followed the links. You never know what you might find doing a search on the internet. I might have to ask for one of those for Christmas. Smiling

I just found an old thread started by Michele about this tool:

The thread "Don's Daylily Divider" in Daylilies forum

I must remember--Do not buy more fl
I asked Santa for it last Christmas and he left one under my tree Smiling I have used it quite a bit this spring and summer and LOVE it. It has made my daylily gardening soooo much quicker and easier and I can get more good usable fans from a clump. It doesn't tear them apart as other ways of dividing do.

Dorothy - Thank you for your product evaluation! It does look like a VERY good dividing tool. I think Santa needs to leave one under MY tree this year! Smiling Smiling Smiling

I know 5 Acre Farms sells them: http://www.5acrefarmdaylilies....
(I don't know if it's the first generation or second generation one, though...second generation has the foot bar.)

Here's a link to Nikki Schmith's video of her using it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

You can also purchase directly from Don's website: http://donsdaylilydivider.com/...

I plan tot get one in a couple of years when my daylilies are clumping up and ready for dividing.

I watched Nikki's video and I can see why the extra foot bar would come in VERY handy Thumbs up

I have this tool and I find it very helpful in dividing daylilies and other perennials as well. I used it a lot this year.

I have this tool. I got it from Dan Bachmann. It works great for separating clumps, but you have to dig the whole clump up and set it on the ground, then use the tool. (You can't use it to separate off a piece of a clump while the clump is in the ground.) It pulls the clumps apart, resulting in much less damage than a knife or shovel.

Just got tool and it's amazing! Its not really difficult to spread apart once you get it into the clump. Well worth the money! I sent in the order form and it came within 2 weeks. Best tool in my arsenal!

I ended up getting one a couple of months ago and it works pretty good! There are some times where it doesn't work as intended....I am thinking it might be better to use when the clump has been dug out of the ground rather than trying it while the clump is in the ground, but I have only used it four or five times. I should know more by the end of the season....
