Is all that Perlite Mark?

@luckyI230..yes all perlite..these are maybe month old cuttings..I usually transplant once I'm totally sure that I have a good root system going...Plumerias have been to much $$$ to have them die

I see know exactly what you mean. Out of my 6 cutting only 1 rotted so far and two are sorta stagnet. One has the inflo which is getting bigger with only 1 leaf on it and the other has a bunch of purple leaves but that's all it's had for a month now.

I see that in RobertB pic above he was using rock like I was in the beginning. I wonder why he was using rock in his pots.

I only have the one plant, Hetty, and it came from you two years ago. It has now been in bloom for two months and is multi-tipped. These cut flowers are nicely fragrant and last about twice as long as any other plumeria flower I have, some 12 varieties. The leaves are huge on this plant, easily 20" long and 6" wide.

Mark..will the root system be completely intertwined in the perlite when it is ready for transplant? Sorry, I'm still learning here. Just curious. Then when you transplant will it be to a mixed perlite/soil medium? Thanks.

Even though this is directed to Mark, when I pull my rooted plumeria from the perlite, there will not be many roots. Sometimes there will only be a couple that are an inch long. I guess if you left it in the perlite a good, long time, there would be lots of roots. I just see no need to do that. I use my regular plumeria mix when I pot these newly rooted plants. I always dig a 2-3" deep hole so that I can place those rooted stems without damage to the tender roots. I use a very well-draining mix, 1/2 (custom) potted soil, 1/4 orchid mix, and 1/4 coarse perlite. I stake these plants with cane, sometimes one, sometimes two, depending on the height of the plants.

I usually just tilt the pot over and let all the perlite fall out and try to be gentle so I don't mess with any roots...pretty simple and fool proof lol
