Just saw these wildflowers blooming (central Texas). They are in full sun and get no water. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Verbena halei appears to have different leaves which are skeletal ..

There's a lot of species in Texas, they should all be checked out to eliminate others.

I've gone through images of everything recorded in that area and V. xutha is the only one that comes close.

Thanks Jay, didn't fancy doing it myself at the moment. Hilarious! It does look correct to me.

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the feedback. To me, it could be either verbena halei or xutha.

The more I look at the photos, the more I think it's verbena xutha. Thanks again, for all your help!
