Since the fires keep burning, and keep getting worse, my thoughts have been on how our California ATPers are faring. I certainly hope that disaster avoids each and every one of you!!
Please let us all know you how you are doing.

I'm o.k., Leslie, thanks for asking. One of my daughters lives in Lake County, however,
and she's ready to evacuate if the fires reach her area in Kelseyville. It's been terrible
in the Middletown area - the town is basically gone.
It is scary. There was a big fire 2 or 3/months ago in big bear which is near.me. it came over the mountain and.had some.mandatory evacuations locally just a few.minutes away from my house. Very scary.

I add my wishes that everyone escaped the heat, fire, ash and smoke. I sure hope it rains soon in CA! Better safe than a memory so be cautious everyone. Fire can take on a life of its own and do strange things.

I add my wishes for safety to Bonnie's. We got smoke and ash from a Washington fire a couple of years ago but have never been close to a fire like that . . . unless you count the one the neighbor kid in Tehachapi, Ca started that burned most of his parents' acre and cost a bunch when the fire department presented them with the bill.
It is very moist today in the Santa Cruz area.. Lots of drippy fog. Hallelujah! Hopefully this weather is slowing the fires. The pictures of the Valley Fire near North of Napa are horrific. Our resources are stretched so thin with so many fires in the state. I salute all the brave firefighters who are risking their lives to save others..

Well said Sherry, and all of you. I saw Rob on the PNW thread so we know all must be okay in his area too. How about Sue? How are you doing?
On a side note, will all the smoke from this summer have an effect on all the California products, from wine to cheese to vegetables? And I mean more in flavor thn ruined crops. Can't believe how this summer's fires couldn't have a taste impact.

Wine grapes absorb a smoky taste sometimes. Fortunately, most of the grapes have been harvested, I think.
We're getting little "teasers" of rain. Five minutes at most of showers, 3 times ! I'm ready for the real thing!
Yep the rain was all North of us... Glad you got some Jan, and Suzanne too, I presume. We just got enough drippiness for the lawn to get wet so that the dog could run across it before he ran in the dirt after a squirrel.

We got enough sprinkles just to get the cement wet . I don't think it did much good for the plants other than the humidity. The Oroville Fire is about an hour south of us. My brother lives in Paradise which is close to Oroville. Yesterday there was another smaller fire about a half hour south of where I live. I think that fire is out.

High humidity does help. The heat around a fire burns it off almost instantly but it does seem to take some of the fiend out of the flames. I hope the drips continue until it rains.

This morning the radio guy said we got a trace of rain yesterday. Cloudy today but no rain, tomorrow the chance of rain is better. I sure you we get the rain!

That is great, Richard! Any rain is welcome. And those temps make me green with envy. we will be in high 80's warming up to mid 90's by the weekend. I hope CA get a nice general rainfall and I hope it puts out all the wildfires.
